Philhellene opened its doors at the end of November, 2008 with the aim of providing a wholesome experience around Greek food, culture, music and history. The cuisine is provincial Greek with Cypriot and Middle Eastern influences. Being one of the four Greek restaurants in Melbourne to be included in the 2011 Age Good Food Guide, our primary objective at Philhellene is to present an authentic concept of food and drink while using high quality produce and applying traditional methods derived from our own mothers' cooking, creating a truly memorable and even emotional experience.

The Boathouse sits on the banks of the Maribyrnong River; a little oasis of gum trees, sloping grass banks, old river terraces, today it belies its industrial past. Its charming Australian décor features natural radial cut weather boards, a stone fire place, tin sidings, a polished concrete floor and a ceiling of exposed straw. It seems to fit right in - so well in fact it could have been here for years. Once you have made yourself comfortable you’ll never want to leave! Oh, and you might notice a large canoe hanging from the roof...
The Boathouse started off as a collaboration between Gary Mehigan judge and co-host of Channel Ten’s hugely successful MasterChef series and Steve Bogdani with a vision to share life’s simple pleasures done really well.

We believe in treating you with a “genuine sense of hospitability” as if you were coming into their homes. It is a principle that our people live and work by. The Boathouse has ample car parking and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 9am to 10pm seven days a week.

Situated only 5 km from the CBD on the North Side of Melbourne, Victoria. The Restaurant is set in Victorian / Edwardian period home which was once owned by the famous Gilbertson butchers when they first migrated to Australia. It dates back to 1890's with a lot of its original features still in tact. The Restaurant has a few different settings. The elegance of the Victorian era has been genuinely maintained in this classic section of the restaurant. Featuring magnificent sculptured ceilings and furnished in a stylish modern décor, this is the area to enjoy the evening on a grand scale.
